Udienza preliminare oggi davanti al GUP di Trapani pe i 39 detenuti per cui la Procura ha chiesto il rinvio a giudizio. Indagati per reati di devastazione, saccheggio e resistenza a pubblico ufficiale. I fatti sono legati alla rivolta del 10 marzo 2020 all’interno del carcere “Pietro Cerulli” di Trapani.
Dei 39 indagati, 2 sono irreperibili, mentre 16 sono nel frattempo tornati liberi.
Le indagini effettuate da Squadra Mobile, Nucleo Investigativo Centrale (NIC) Polizia Penitenziaria e coordinate dal Sostituto Procuratore Francesca Urbani che con il Procuratore aggiunto Maurizio Agnello, ha firmato la richiesta di rinvio a giudizio.
La rivolta del carcere di trapani era legata alle restrizioni imposte nel periodo del covid-19; i detenuti non accettarono alcuni momentanei divieti a partire dalla concessione dei permessi premio per finire ai colloqui con i familiari.
Il 10 marzo 2020 scoppiò la rivolta.
Un gruppo di detenuti riuscirono a raggiungere il tetto del carcere, mentre all’interno gli altri devastarono il padiglione “Mediterraneo”, provocando ingenti danni. Rimasero feriti diversi Agenti di Polizia Penitenziaria e 7 di loro vennero individuati come parti offese dalla Procura. La rivolta terminò in tarda serata; il carcere venne accerchiato con un ampio schieramento di forze dell’ordine mentre un elicottero dall’alto monitorava la situazione al fine di evitare evasioni.
